Dan Deacon and HEALTH bring their renowned, raucous live acts to De Verdieping on back to back nights at the end of May (30 and 31), and you can be treated to both with a special combo ticket.
Dan Deacon has brought his legendary live show to Amsterdam before, but never in a space so suited to his highly integrative act as De Verdieping. Deacon's highly interactive live shows completely obscure the divide between audience and performer; his fusion of classical and electronic sound meets with human spirals and dance circles as Deacon commands the audience like a welcomed puppet master. His latest tour also contains a special technological surprise that's not to be missed. Support act for the night will be Deacon's regular tour-mate and producer, Chester Endersby Gwazda.
Subbacultcha! memberships had only just started when the electro-noise band HEALTH played an Amsterdam show at Melkweg four years ago. So now the band is back, both in Amsterdam and on the road, after taking a hiatus to record the soundtrack for video game Max Payne 3 last year. Similarly suited to Trouw's musical bowels, they'll shatter and crash in De Verdieping on Friday 31 May. With a new record on the way, this could be your first chance to feast on their latest spoils. Opening for HEALTH is Toronto's electro-hallucinogenic freak-out act Doldrums, Arbutus Records staple, Grimes pal, and Subbacultcha! darling since opening for the sold out Purity Ring show here at Trouw last year.
So double up and grab yourself a combo ticket for a measly €18, and head to Dan Deacon + Chester Endersby Gwazda on 30 May and return on the 31st for HEALTH + Doldrums.
You can buy your combo ticket here. Both shows are free for Subbacultcha! members.
