The Exploding Piano is a spectacular installation on display at TrouwAmsterdam during Amsterdam Dance Event between October 17th and 20th. It shows an original grand piano from 1880 in mid-explosion with splintered piano fragments flying through the dark room, caught in a freeze frame as if time has stopped.

This dramatic sculpture is brought to life by a synchronised animation of sound, strategically placed spotlights and video projection. A mesmerising play of shadows unfolds and lets visitors experience the vast (and normally closed) basement space in a unique way.

The Exploding Piano is a collaboration between Trial and Error Visual Performances and Stage Design and multimedia artist / Trouw resident dj Patrice Bäumel.

Admission is free for those who visit our restaurant or have a ticket for ADE.
