Trouw is temporary and will close her doors forever on January 3rd. Trouw wouldn’t be the meeting place and breeding ground that it is today without the people working there day and night. This series puts various Trouw employees in the spotlight. From the light people, to the door host: all nodes of Trouw will see their place on the pedestal. Today: Jesse - technical manager at Trouw.
Jesse was responsible for maintenance, network management and technical operations at 11. When 11 closed and Trouw came into play as a new location, he immediately got involved in the project in that role. 'It was a hectic time. Getting the building ready to house a club and restaurant − with a limited budget and in less than three months − was a real challenge. We’d saved a lot of stuff from 11 to reuse in Trouw, which was a huge help.'
Jesse is in charge of technical preparations for all the Mevrouw Trouw and De Verdieping events, and ensures that everything is organised for the sound and lighting technicians during every event. He’s also responsible for ‘everything technical’ during the evening. 'The team now works independently, and so I’m hardly ever called out of bed by someone who has run into problems. But it used to be different.' When Trouw had just opened, Jesse was at the club a lot at night. 'In 2011, I became a father and since then I’m hardly ever at Trouw when it’s open. But if I am there, I still get that feeling of pride sneaking over me.'
