All good things must come to an end, as is also the case with Trouw. We previously announced we would be closing our doors by the end of this year, but now there is an official date set. The very last opportunity to party here in Trouw is Saturday January 3rd 2015.
This means that we will be entering our last couple of months. The fact that Trouw is a temporary concept, has been clear for a long time. After all, this has been our philosophy and approach from the very start. When we opened our doors, it was our intention to reside in our current building for two years. But as the demolition and redevelopment of the old printing facility and surrounding offices were postponed, the lease was prolonged twice. In the meantime, the entire Trouw building and Parool tower have been sold to a new owner and will give rise to the Student Hotel, which will open its doors somewhere mid-year 2015 after a big renovation.
The club nights, our cultural program and our vegetable restaurant will therefore shortly cease to exist. This will mark an end of an era. The question whether we'll start a new establishment at another location in Amsterdam, is something we wish to keep to ourselves for now.
Bulldozers will start to demolish the first parts of the building on Monday January 5th. Starting December 24th, our last days will be dedicated to the last farewells. We willl host various closing parties and special events during our last 11 days. The final date on which the public can visit the club and restaurant, is Saturday January 3rd. The exact program of our last couple of weeks will be announced shortly. Let's make those last couple of months as special as possible!
