The vegetables we eat, are often straight as an arrow or beautifully round, the same size and with glossy surface. Yet not all vegetables are perfect. Where are all the thick, crooked, long and irregular vegetables? Well, that's what the girls from Kromkommer tried to find out.
Approximately, 5 to 10 procent of vegetables are wasted because of their 'looks'. Now that's pretty crooked itself, because they don't end up on the plate of the consumer even though there's nothing wrong with how they taste. Kromkommer brings back the funny shaped vegetables, right on YOUR plate. Their style tastes good, feels unique and also makes you contribute to counter the waste of food. Crooked is the new straight!
Kromkommer will serve two delicious soups at the Food Bazaar on June 19th made from crooked vegetables; a tomato soup with yellow tommy tomatoes and a carrot soup with orange and ginger. The soups can also be bought in a bag, very convenient when you don't have time to be in the kitchen yourself.
The Food Bazaar starts at 16.00 on Thursday June 19th with a big number of participants. Besides the wonderful food presented by Yokiyo, Restaurant As, Venkel or the Pasta Fabriek, we also be showing you movies, series, art, workshops and literature concerning food. The list of participants can be found on our event page.
