From April 18th to 27th, EYE will present the film program Cinema Remake in Trouw at De Hal. During restaurant and club hours, we'll show how the remake has led to remarkable results, both in the field of cinema and in the marginal area of film and the fine arts. Think Michael Hanekes' Funny Games (1997), Funny Games US (2007) and carefully copied scenes from the two versions of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934/1956) by Alfred Hitchcock.
A lot of artists and filmmakers often use existing, sometimes iconic films in order to unravel the language of film, to show the spectators the codes and unwritten rules of film, or in short; to comment on the film. The results are staggering and fascinating! Remakes that will be shown include films such as Psycho, Night of the Living Dead and Funny Games.
Entrance is free. Open during restaurant and club hours.
