The Life and Death Weekender is just around the corner. The label will bring a big delegation of well-known names such as Tale Of Us, DJ Tennis, Thugfucker, Mind Against and Clockwork. But there’s also one name who isn’t that famous as the other names. We’re talking about the live act Dead Heat. With a new EP on the Italian label and their first ever live performance ever here in Trouw, the question arises: where did this trio come from so suddenly?
You might recall the artist name Esperanza. Sergio Maggioni, Matteüs Blackboard and Charles Albert Dall'Amico performed under this alias not so long ago, on which they also released their 2011 album Gomma. Last year they decided to continue under their new name with their latest release on Life and Death in sight. Their new EP consists of two tracks: Bosco and The Dam, with remixes by Lucy and The Field. With this release, Life and Death is returning to their indie roots. The trio notes deep psychedelic influences as a significant factor in their sound and aim to frame two sides of an idea with this EP; a ying and a yang)
Image-wise the trio tries to keep the spotlights away, which means almost no interviews (except this one with Soundwall for Italian reader) and mysterious press pics, which reminded us of Ten Walls’ approach. Both artists have the desire to let the music do the talking, and we always find that very admirable. We recommend you to come listen to the Italian trio on Sunday, because you won’t see them that often here again. We're expecting a big crowd, so don’t get here to late! And remember: you can always check the status at the door on our website.
