Music is not only recordable through sound, but also in imagery. That's why a photo exhibition at the Music Bazar felt essential. Ramona Deckers will exhibit her series of pictures of our Trouw residents and artists entitled Where the Magic Happens in De Hal during the Music Bazar on January 31st.
Where the Magic Happens is a portrait series I worked on over the past six months in conjunction with club Trouw Amsterdam. During that time I photographed most of Trouw's residents and closest artists backstage. Every shoot happened in a fast and improvised fashion, sometimes during a DJ's toilet break in between two records. The interaction with the artists was an interesting character study and a lot of their personalities can be found back in these images. The motion captured with long shutter times and freely moving subjects add a random dimension and turn these photographs into almost abstract light paintings.
You'll find Where The Magic Happens in De Hal during the Music Bazar on January 31st. This exhibition is made possible by FotoLabKiekie.
