With the coming edition of Black Magic this Saturday, I want to create an environment that allows for dancing and just sitting down and listening at the same time. There will be no strict separation between dancefloor and seating arrangements, allowing people to enjoy the music any way they like. By that I want to free the performing artists from the constraint of having to keep the party going at all cost and create a format that allows for a wider spectrum of music to be played and enjoyed in a club. It is an idea that was inspired by David Mancuso's "Loft", a famous New York party space in the 70's that was mainly designed to listen to the most exciting music out there, no matter what the genre was.
I feel like we need to be more curious again in clubs, experiment with new ideas and break free from traditions and genre compartmentalisations that limit us. Much of the best music made today never finds its way into clubs just because it doesn't fit the existing format. I want to play a part in changing that and offer a musical platform for curious and open-minded people.
