We got it! After months of excitement, we can now finally officially shout it from the rooftops; we got the 24-hour license! What can you expect from us in the near future and what changes will be made?
With the 24-hour permit, we initially want to expand our opening times, but also offer space to be more creative in our programming. Because of the 24 hour license, we aren’t confined to the closing time of 5 AM on weekends and 3 AM on a weekday. Of course this license doesn’t mean we’ll be opening our doors 24/7, but it does create a enormous freedom in our international program. It’s mainly interesting for the Thursday and Sunday night; why stop if we’re having a good time, right? Another example is Amsterdam Dance Event; usually we always had to apply for a special dispensation. Now, we can let the DJ’s play on if the opportunity presents itself or bring in new DJ’s with enough energy after their initial performance to play their music into the late late hours. We can also offer our visitor a nice breakfast when the sun comes up; also one of the plans we hope to realize very soon.
Next to this, we also want to start with the development of a Night Museum. With the Night Museum, we want to put our visitors into touch with art in a light manner like it did in March when collaborating with the Stedelijk Museum. Imagine works along the likes of Rineke Dijkstra, Jeremy Shaw and Mark Leckey, which you can admire in between dancing. We want to create a town within a town whereby you never have to leave to building. You’ll find everything in one place: you can discover innovative art, good food in our vegetable restaurant, attend a lecture or dance the night away. These dynamics give everyone the freedom to feel at home, to get inspired and to become part of Trouw.
