Have you ever wondered why your boyfriend gives his Xbox more attention than you? Why he doesn't throw away empty pizza boxes and only uses his enormously muscular thumbs to woo a controller. That's because of the awesomeness of the games he plays and the passion with which they are made.
Earlier this month Indie Game: The Movie was released for download. The film is a documentary about the underdogs of the video game industry, independent game developers.
Indie Game is a portrayal of the code geeks behind the games Super Meat Boy, Fez and Braid and the craftsmanship they put into those games. They sacrifice money, health and sanity to realize their lifelong dreams of sharing their creative visions with the world.
The film shows an honest and vulnerable insight into the lives of the developers and their insecurities, emotions, stress and creativity. That is what makes Indie Game: The Movie an interesting narrative about the difficult process of making an independent game. It shows the developers' obsessive quest to express themselves through a 21st-century art form.
The film is downloadable through its official website (http://www.indiegamethemovie.com)
