During the second edition of FIBER Festival that will take place on March 24 in De Verdieping, visitors can experience audiovisual media- and installation art at the EXPO. In line with the festival theme "Sharing Signals; enacting the in-between" the focus of the EXPO will be on the connection between technology and man, displaying connections between devices and to explore the tension between media and reality. The visitors are invited by the presented work to capture a moment in this constantly shifting, innovative and changing areas.
The work Cubebender by Krista van der Wilk seeks a tension by returning to the source of the moving image. This is done by working with the elements light, time and space. Sunlight alights on a virtual space created by her, which seems to be part of the space in which the life-size projection takes place. It becomes really clear that the space is not part of our reality, when it transforms and deforms in a natural-looking way. This slow transformation takes the visitor to a reality where the laws of time and space slowly 'bend’.
Krista is an installation artist with roots in painting. Her passion for the still image is reflected in the slow progress and change of her image. She explores the boundaries between video and reality by fitting the image to suit the space in which she presents the work. This creates the illusion that Cubebender is part of the architecture of De Verdieping during FIBER festival.
EXPO Hours: March 24, 2:00 p.m. to 0:30
