Dutch VJ Heleen Blanken once cried while seeing James Turrell's blue light. She's now touring Holland with the band Moke while in the meantime she made a visual impression for the Inertia compilation on Delsin's sublabel Ann Aimee. But that's not all. Not at all. The VJ that we've all grown to love so much at Trouw is going to tour the country that's very special for everyone who's really into visuals, Japan, with her band Finn Silver. And in 2011 she performed at the biggest Dutch festival Lowlands, at every Dekmantel party and a lot at Trouw as well.
Blanken passed the stage of 2D projections long ago, it's all about 3D mapping now. Other artists like Bill Viola and the earlier mentioned James Turrel who do the same, have inspired Blanken's work.
Heleen is not sure what the future will bring, she's not at all about planning. And everything that she's doing now, just fell into her lap and she's sure it will continue going like this in the future. With a talent like hers, we think so too.
