Oscar Mulero is notorious for being the serious, non-conformist, tattoo-covered, hard techno devotee - always pictured with a stern expression that mirrors the intensity of his performances. We got the chance to interview him over Skype ahead of his performance here on Saturday.

On December 11, we'll be hosting the last ever Art Bazaar. Throughout the years, we enjoyed working together with other locations on the area of classical and modern music. As far as we're concerned, these institutes definitely deserve a spot on this special night. The string ensemble Fuse will play in De Verdieping on behalf of The Concertgebouw on Thursday December 11, while The Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ will bring renowned pianist Saskia Lankhoorn to the Art Bazaar. The event is completely free, so be on time!

There’s a cosmic swell emanating out of the Rhine area in Germany. His name is Barnt and he writes in a German accent through metaphors that denote the visceral element that we find in his music.

In February of this year, Sebastian Mullaert played one of the last Minilogue live sets here in Trouw together with Marcus Henriksson, before putting the duo on hold for the time being. Now, two months before the end of Trouw, Sebastian will return for a special live/DJ b2b set with long-time friend and KontraMusik head-honcho Ulf Eriksson.

After his inaugural release of “Mad Disrespect” in 2012, Anthony Naples has been rapidly building a name for himself. He dropped out of university after one semester of linguistics to focus on pursuing music, and his talent was quickly noticed, with Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) becoming a big believer in him from the start.

The next installment of New Music For Found Footage is around the corner, and it will be Danny Wolfers aka Legowelt taking the reins this time around. He will be creating a live score to a number of late 1970s and 1980s video art films from the LIMA archive.

An on-going stereotype about Canadians is that they are extremely friendly and nice people. We feel that we haven't met quite enough Canadians to fully confirm this imagery, but if we had to go by the likeness of Jake Fairley aka Fairmont, we wouldn't think twice about making the trip over the big pond.

Luke Hess might not be one of the most iconic artists to come out of the city of Detroit, but he's definitely one of the most honest and pure. As a DJ/producer, he started coming up in the mid-2000's and has released two full-length albums up until today, including the critically acclaimed Keep On in 2012. When you scratch the surface, you'll come to know some interesting things about Luke that's unlike most of the DJ's you'll read about.

In an electronic music world today where new music is mass-produced daily, structures and progressions begin to become overused and overplayed. New and interesting ideas for music can be really hard to find when you’re flicking through the thousands of tracks released daily on Youtube and Soundcloud in the so-called underground electronic dance scene. It’s in times like these where producer-DJs like Leon Vynehall become so refreshing, not because they defy all the conventions of typical modern dance music production, but because there is an emphasis on that simple musical quality that so often appears to be missing.

On the 12th of October Olaf Boswijk is undertaking a mammoth task. He will be cycling from the Resident Advisor headquarters in London to the heart of Amsterdam ahead of ADE. I asked him what he’s done to prepare. “I've been trying to ride my bike as much as possible. So besides the daily commute and cycle activity you can expect from your average 'Amsterdammer', I've been doing training rides all around the city. Going to Zandvoort, Alkmaar, Hoorn, Noordwijk etc and back and trying to get as much miles in as possible.“ The cause for all this additional exercise I am told is an organization called Bridges for Music.

We’ve endeavoured numerous attempts in the past to interview the Hessle Audio crew here at Trouw. Questions have been formulated, dates have been set, emails have been sent, but all previous efforts have failed conclusively to entice the Hessle Audio heads into a conversation. It was only ahead of their upcoming ADE performance that an email labelled Trouw blog piece with Hessle Audio & more, finally presented us with the opportunity to conduct a short email interview with Ben UFO, Pangaea and Pearson Sound.

If you’re up for his style, Don Williams is a dj who'll never disappoint. His name is as American as his sets, with a heap of influences from Chicago and Detroit. After the interview, Don Williams said: “The first time I met Convextion in person, I was expecting a dark skinned guy from Detroit. But he’s actually from Texas and looks nothing like that.” You could say the same about Thomas (Don Williams’ real name), who grew up in a small town near Berlin.

It wasn’t a very good idea to do an interview over Skype with Margot. The Italian duo has quite a hard time answering me. My questions were frequently answered with "we don’t understand", but after trying two or three times, we manage to get the wanted result. And even though I spoke with Pepe on a night in Ekko earlier this year, apparently I forgot how difficult it was for him. "You should have seen us 6 years ago. It’s already much better now", they say. I have to give them a lot of credits for keeping up for over half an hour.

Seize the opportunity if you are a fan of burrata, the Italian cheese that is probably the planet’s best. Whereas anywhere else it is considered to be a spring or summer dish, Trouw will be serving burrata until the very last day of its existence! Not many people realize that this miracle of a cheese can be eaten all year round. Time to catch up with Marco Sotgiu, the guy who provides Trouw with the best Italian products. He is giving us a short lecture on why burrata is such a special cheese indeed.

There are few producers today that can match the innovation and ingenuity that Matthew Herbert has displayed over the past twenty years through his various aliases. Herbert has an exceptional talent for spotting a musical quality in sounds that would otherwise pass us by in every day life, and his ability to transform these sounds into engaging pieces is second to none.
