“When we started really hanging out, before we started the label, it was every single Saturday down at a record store called Killa Cutz, which is sadly gone now – it’s turned into a bike rental shop. We used to go there every Saturday at ten o’clock – that’s when the boxes of promos would arrive – and we’d be in there listening to records all day. That’s where our love for this comes from.”

As you’ve probably noticed, an interview usually precedes an event at Trouw. We’ve adapted quite well to receiving last minute replies but mere hours before an appearance proved too much for even us. An opportunity to share some of Spencer’s thoughts and experiences doesn’t come along everyday and we’d be fools to resign this one to the wastebasket. So without further delay and in the spirit of better late than never, may we present the Spencer interview.

It's Trouw's Last Summer! Also with the temporality of our restaurant in mind, it seemed fun to share one of our favorite dishes with you, so you can continue to enjoy Trouw for a bit longer. And what's more fun than growing your own vegetables at home? Noted below you'll find the recipe for one of our classics that has been a frequent dish on our menu: aubergine with feta, parsley and garlic!

Usually, when an artist wants to do an interview by mail, I try my best to still do it over Skype. For some reason, many Spanish artists are very afraid of their English skills, and think they won’t be able to express themselves fully - in a way that often is correct. On the other hand, an interviewer will never be able to get the most out of a question with an interview by mail, for obvious reasons. Strangely enough, Marc Piñol answered me very blatantly while sitting in front of his computer and gave some beautiful open answers. Below you can read about his affection with pop, his aversion to Sónar and his discontentment with his own productions.

It's been somewhat quiet at the Trouw Live Podcast Series front the last couple of weeks. We had to be patient with this set, but we're finally able to announce the 21nd edition of the Trouw Live Podcast Series! This time the set comes from the mysterious Vaal, recorded at the LET Weekend on April 20th.

House has few secrets left for Mano le Tough. Thanks to his intensive submersion in Berlin’s club culture, it takes more than some random Kerri Chandler rip-off to get him enthusiastic. Mano likes his music fresh and original. As if we weren’t already excited enough to see him play!

This week is quite rightly a special one, because Nuno Dos Santos and our Resident of the Month Makam will both be playing an all night long set in our upstairs area. To celebrate these joyous occasions, we've presented both gentlemen with the opportunity to add their favorite drink to our selection for one night. They chose: the Santos Solo and Hierbas!

This coming Friday, Clone boss Serge invited Parisian cult figure DJ Deep to his label night in De Verdieping. Both men go way back to the early days of house and techno. They share a couple of simularities as artists, both also plenty of big differences in their approach. Serge had a chat with DJ Deep (Cyril Etienne) about his past and a good look into the future of his Deeply Rooted label and the status of the Parisian club scene.

There are a handful of DJ’s that will always be special to Trouw. They regularly make appearances in our DJ booths and captivate Trouw’s audience with their extensive knowledge and experience of the scene and its music. We make these DJ’s residents, and the latest DJ to join this special list is none other than Makam.

When thinking about a Food Bazaar, you’re probably thinking about cuisine. And that’s correct, because we’ve got burgers, pizzas, Korean food, vegan, gluten-free, ice cream, sweets, cheese, drinks and so much more… But there’s so much more you can do with food than just fill your belly. We previously wrote about the Food Chain Installation by Itamar Gilboa, which you can view on the vide in our building. Here are some more highlights on June 19th which you can use to fill the time in-between eating all those delicious items.

A Food Bazaar is not only the place for excellent cuisine, but also delicious alcoholic beverages. One of our favorite drinks is the Rabarcello of Mister Kitchen, made of rhubarb. Do you want to learn how you can make your own liquor out of vegetables or fruit? Well, we got you covered, because Mister Kitchen will be giving a Cello workshop on Thursday June 19th to teach you how to make your own liquor.

Together with Stedelijk Museum, we will be presenting the serie Trouw Invites… in collaboration with the three international art institutes; Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Beirut (Caïro) and New Museum (New York). There’ll be three exhibitions in our basement area De Hal. This monumental space will serve as the stage for a unique cooperation in an environment where the visual arts and club culture will confront each other head-on.

Who doesn’t love pizza? That’s what we were thinking! To celebrate our last summer, we’ll be opening our terrace every Sunday this summer! In addition to that, we’ll be serving four different pizzas from a real-life wood fired oven that will be built on our terrace this week in collaboration with WOOD Pizza. This means you can enjoy our terrace one extra day per week during our last summer, because The Pizza Club will open every Sunday (if the weather is fine) starting at 15.00!Next page
