Miguel Barros, formerly known as Alt Fenster, has been producing excellent tracks as Pional since 2010. With this alias, Miguel had EP’s coming out on Hivern Discs, Young Turks and Permanent Vacation. Now that he’s going live on the Permanent Vacation party this Friday, we finally got the chance to talk with this amazing artist from Madrid.

If you’ve been paying attention in the last few years, you’d have no doubt come across the Internet success of live-streaming sites for electronic music. DJs all across the world have started playing to cameras while unenthused onlookers dance around in the background...

Patrice Bäumel is taking his Resident of the Month a step further. That's because he made a sound installation especially for us, entitled "Nature (sponsored by...)"!

On January 31st we’re organizing a grand Music Bazar. In our view, a bit of classical music was also of the essence. That’s why /entrée, the youth associasion of The Royal Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra invited the Lebet String Quartet to play at the Music Bazaar on January 31st.

It's not often that a festival with the grandeur of Berlin Atonal comes to Amsterdam. February 27th marks the date that Berlin Atonal representative Moritz von Oswald will come to Trouw as a trio with Tony Allen and Max Loderbauer.

There’s not only room for established organizations and names at the Music Bazar on January 31st, but also for music yet to be discovered. We asked Patrice Bäumel and Nuno Dos Santos to come over and demo-speeddate with our visitors. That way you can let the pro's hear the music you’ve made at home and get advice from our residents!

Here are ten albums that made me fall in love with techno music. I have recently sold most of my record collection, however, these records were never up for discussion.

The year 2013 has been exceptionally good for Indigo Aera head honcho’s Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorff. With their upcoming gig at Trouw this Sunday, the new year starts as good as it gets: the duo performs alongside Derrick May, their favorite artist -ever-. Jasper and Maarten can go on and on about why this feels like everything falls into place for them. Trouw sums up their fandom in two statements.

The Trouw Live Podcast Series is back with its sixteenth edition. This time the set comes from Swiss artist Deetron, recorded during his Music Over Matter all-nighter on October 11th last year.

As a Resident of the Month I would like to share my favorite sources of inspiration during this month. Art is a great source of inspiration and it helps me to break open those set ways of thinking and see things from a fresh angle. I am personally most drawn towards contemporary art, so my art charts will not include any of the old masters.

On January 31st we’ll be hosting a big Music Bazar in Trouw. After four successful editions of the Night Bazaar, we are going to focus on the three columns of Trouw in the last year: Music, Food & Drinks and Art. In the last year we’ll be organizing three bazaars according to these themes. We will start with the Music Bazaar on January 31st.

There are very few artists you could proclaim they’ve honed their craft to the extent that Daniel Avery has. It was only after securing a vast amount of experience in the DJ booth that he decided to don the producer cap. He eventually dropped his Stopmakingme alias and a string of EP’s followed in 2011, culminating in Drone Logic in 2013, an album that enjoyed much critical success. His extensive knowledge of the dancefloor and its needs were to inspire its creation and we find out that one of the cuts was “made to be played at Trouw”.

With Trouw as their laboratory, Children of the Light’s Arnout and Christopher keep on developing their cross-over creations. Knowing their first show together was for a 2000 people crowd in Paris, with the DARKSIDE project of Nicolas Jaar, we can easily project a bright lighted future for this duo.

Looking back, we can say that 2013 was the year of the reissue. William Onyeabor’s synth-funk, Arthur Russell’s perfect pop, Saâda Bonaire’s dark boogie, Michael Boothman’s lovely disco and Penny Penny’s happy house: all music that was almost impossible to find or just super expensive and now available at your local record dealer. If you ever consider starting a record collection, these five LP’s might be the perfect start. Because these records were all released in the eighties and nineties, they could not participate in our tracks of the year overview. Fortunately, there has been released a lot of great new music as well.

If only I were a little girl, I’d fall in love with Jean Pierre instantly. He’s got the looks, he’s got the skills, and he knows how to put it delicately. Can’t believe the youngster started out with collecting trance records. “I’m from Breda, the same city as Tiësto and Hardwell,” he explains. “There was nothing else, I learnt to mix with hit parade music.”

Back in 2007 I visited Lowlands Festival. There I was, in the Bravo area, don’t ask me who were playing. Actually, do ask me. Look up the headliners yourselves, but in between there was this DJ I’d never heard of, but he was overwhelming. I skipped the headliner, didn’t want his sound to wash away that tiny moment of magic (those 15 minutes of fame)...

Taking a minimalistic approach means achieving more with less. Sadly, the majority of so-called minimal seems to achieve less with less. Raster Noton is my favourite exception. The German label is continually redefining the boundaries of electronic music. In fact, it's hard for me to imagine that this music will ever sound old.

Several decades ago, French newspaper Le Monde wouldn’t place photographs. Photographs were seen as a mere illustration to the essence of the message. This year however, another French newspaper, Libération, decided to release an issue without photos as an homage to photographers. The empty frames on the pages showed how important photographs really are.

Razor-sharp hi-hats, hypno-synths combined with dark underground industrial sounds, fused to a technological oasis of sinister story lines. The Netherlands has a new producer and live act, who’s first release reached far beyong our borders in the last year.

People sometimes say the music is the most important aspect of clubbing, but what happens in the background is always of equal significance. When it comes down to lighting and visuals, we often rely on the skills of Arnout Hulskamp and Christopher Gabriel, otherwise known as the Children of the Light.

I listen to Steffi’s track ’Yours’ (released in 2011, with vocals by Virginia) a few times a week. A lovely, warm house record that holds lots of good memories to me.Next page
